Flavors, music and other traditions of the “fair market” are back in Campo de Viriato, as of Friday. Aquilino Ribeiro Park resumes its program and opens space for gastronomy
In Viseu, the month of August brings new proposals and a special invitation. It is from this Friday, August 6th, that Campo de Viriato comes back to life, with the return of some of the best experiences and flavors that remind us of the São Mateus Fair. The Aquilino Ribeiro Park is also once again hosting various shows and concerts on its stage, in addition to becoming a new privileged spot for gastronomy.
“Viseenses, visitors and tourists will be able to enjoy the ‘Summer in the Garden City’, with this resumption of the program, which is also enriched from this Friday. To the extensive cultural offer, we now add new attractions, such as gastronomy, both in the City Park and in Campo de Viriato, among other experiences for all ages”, highlights the Mayor of Viseu, Conceição Azevedo.
The initiative “Summer in the Garden City” recovers, albeit on a small scale and complying with all the indications and regulations in force, some of the traditions of the “fair market”, so well present in the memory of Viseenses, visitors and tourists. From August 6th, Campo de Viriato will have operators from the Bairro da Restauração, the feasts, the street food, but also the famous Murtosa eels and sweets.
Music also assumes the main place in the animation of Campo de Viriato, on a stage installed next to the water mirror that will host several concerts “made in” Viseu, with a limited audience controlled by an electronic ticket pre-reservation system, as it has so far been adopted.
The opening of this new programming space for the “Summer in the Garden City” is marked by the performance of the Coro Mozart, on Friday, at 9 pm. The band Duplo Sentido and Grupo de Cantares Pedra Moura are also guest groups for this first end. Campo de Viriato, with performances on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, also at 9 pm.
During these days, and until September 21, visitors will be able to count on the offer of textile products, handicrafts, furniture, among others.
On an opportune date, still to be communicated, and due to the new measures of deconfinement announced by the Government and which entered into force on Sunday, August 1st, which allowed the resumption of entertainment equipment activity, provided that it was duly authorized and in complying with the protocols defined by the General Directorate of Health, the programming in Campo de Viriato will also open space for the installation of entertainment equipment.
“The announcement of the progressive lifting of some of the restrictions allows us to resume and expand the ‘Summer in the Garden City’ program in an organized, prudent and responsible manner. We remain committed to working closely with our Civil Protection and health authorities. , in betting on the cultural and economic recovery in Viseu, without forgetting the security of all those who take the initiative and of those who reside and visit us”, concludes the Mayor.
