The initiative takes place, in the county, between the 24th of September and the 3rd of October and includes visits, workshops, itineraries, and light installations. Under the theme “Inclusive and Diversified Heritage“, in 2021, the celebration of the European Heritage Days will last for ten days.
The Municipality of Viseu once again accepted the challenge of structuring a program designed for all citizens. It extends over several locations and embraces not only the eight municipal museums but also the Historic Center of Viseu, Mata do Fontelo, the Solar do Vinho do Dão Gardens and the D. Miguel da Silva Municipal Library.
There are more than 30 activities. The offer ranges from guided tours to exhibitions, to traveling works of art, to workshops that promise to awaken the creativity of the participants, talks and conferences, tours in search of heritage and light installations.
Noteworthy, for example, are the inclusive visits to the exhibitions at the Quartz Museum – Professor Galopim de Carvalho Interpretation Center. They will take place on the 25th of September, at 11 am, and visitors will have the opportunity to get to know the pieces exhibited through touch. In addition, other supports will be used, namely the text in Braille.
Children’s creativity is also stimulated, with several outdoor workshops, promoted by the Archaeological Pole of Viseu António Almeida Henriques, the City History Museum or Quinta da Cruz – Center for Contemporary Art.
Thus, Viseu marks these days by joining the mission of bringing people together around culture and heritage and, according to the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, “to include as many different people as possible“.
The initiative is completely free, however, the number of participants is limited to the capacity of the spaces. All those who want to be present must register in advance, using the contacts available in the program, which can be consulted here.
