The Four Seasons by Vivaldi in transcription for accordion by Inês Vaz and Pedro Santos, with comments from Alexandre Delgado, will be at TMJB on October 19, Saturday, at 9 PM. The concert is part of the Chamber Music Cycle and is supported by the Share Foundation.
The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) is one of the most popular works of Baroque music. Composed of four short concertos for violin and string orchestra, this highly evocative composition, inspired by four sonnets, evokes the states of nature associated with each of the seasons of the year, creating an immediate empathy with the audience, who are easily fascinated by the diversity of soundscapes and the extreme virtuosity required of the musicians. Inês Vaz and Pedro Santos offer us a truly original approach by interpreting this iconic piece with two accordions.
Inês Vaz has been awarded as a solo performer and in chamber music ensembles. Musically, she has devoted herself to the study of both classical and contemporary styles, with a growing interest in jazz that led her to study harmony and improvisation. She divides her activities between teaching accordion and piano, performance, and composition. She has been a soloist with the Gulbenkian Choir, and with the Camerata Atlântica, and frequently collaborates with artists such as Vitorino and Salvador Sobral. In 2021, she released the solo album Timeless Suite.
Pedro Santos has been awarded in several competitions and regularly performs solo. At the invitation of the Porto Symphony Orchestra, he performed with Luciano Pavarotti. He has shared the stage with orchestras and collective projects, such as the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Lusotango, NewMusicCollective, and Bayan Quartet. He is a resident musician of the project Concertos para bebés. He has collaborated with performers such as Dulce Pontes and Teresa Salgueiro. In theatre, he has participated in performances from Teatro Aberto, Cornucópia, and O Bando. He teaches at several music academies in Portugal.
