The Municipality of Valongo joined the Volta a Portugal a Correr pelos Direitos das Crianças (“Running for Children’s Rights”) initiative, which the National Commission for the Promotion of the Rights and Protection of Children and Youth sponsored. Athlete João Paulo Félix decided to go beyond his limits and do it in a symbolic way for Children’s Rights, covering 2,222 km, 40 ultramarathons, in 40 stages and 40 days.
The beginning of this adventure took place at Praia da Areia Branca, in Lourinhã, on the 15th of July and will end on the 23rd of August, in the same place.
On August 16, the athlete will pass through the municipality of Valongo, in stage 33 (Lousada – Porto), with a welcome reception with children being scheduled at around 10:00 am in the CMV’s outer atrium.
During the route in the municipality of Valongo, from the parish of Campo (next to the River Ferreira) to the roundabout in Alto da Serra, athlete João Félix will be accompanied by other athletes from local associations.
