Voice of Amália Rodrigues can be heard again

An unprecedented tribute show to the “Voice of Portugal” brings to the stage of the Coliseu dos Recreios and Casino Estoril the interpretation of the great themes of the fado singer, by her voice, still young, in the early 1950s.
In the year marking the 25th anniversary of Amália Rodrigues’ passing, the show “Amália Sinfónico – The great songs of the queen of fado in symphonic version” promises to recall and evoke the spirit of the fado singer in a unique tribute, on October 6 and 10, in Lisbon and Estoril, respectively.
The shows will thus have a nostalgic atmosphere, recalling the voice (early 1950s) and the image of the incomparable Amália in various photographs and clips of iconic videos from the singer’s career, never before seen in Portugal, projected on a large scale on the LED screen that makes up the set.
The voice of Amália Rodrigues, accompanied by a luxurious cast of over 40 musicians from the Lisbon Classical Orchestra, a Portuguese guitar, and featuring the participation of singer Anabela, will lead the show, under the direction of conductor Rui Pinheiro.
With this original show, which includes songs such as “Cheira a Lisboa,” “Foi Deus,” “Gaivota,” “Barco Negro,” “Uma Casa Portuguesa,” and “Solidão (Canção do Mar),” including other Brazilian, Spanish, and French repertoire from the artist, the aim is to reinforce the richness and artistic diversity of the work of the Diva of Fado, who brought the identity of a people to the four corners of the world.
