The songs immortalized by great names in music, through the voices of their composers.
Six composers on stage sang the songs that became hits in the voice of some of the greatest voices in Portuguese music. This is the proposal of the show “Voice of the Composers” (“Voz dos Compositores”), which will reveal the stories behind a series of timeless songs by the popular collective sung in Portuguese, revealing to the public the purity of the moment in which they were created.
On June 7th, at the Coliseu dos Recreios, in Lisbon, the public is invited to celebrate songs popularized by the biggest names in music in our language, such as Seu Jorge, Martinho Da Vila, Zeca Pagodinho, António Zambujo, Adriana Calcanhoto, Milton Nascimento, Ney Matogrosso, among others. This time these compositions come through the voices of their composers: Moacyr Luz, Gabriel Moura, Pierre Aderne, Pedro Luís, Edu Krieger and Rodrigo Maranhão.
There aren’t many times when we celebrate those behind the songs of our lives. The creators of the compositions or lyrics remain in the shadows, but the magic first happens inside the head of each of them, before coming to life in the studios and on stages, through the voices of the most brilliant performers. This is the concept of “Voice of the Composers”. This show celebrates precisely those who transform these feelings shared by everyone into sound and words, exercising that kind of alchemical power that constitutes the writing of a popular song.
Moacyr Luz, Gabriel Moura, Pierre Aderne, Pedro Luís, Edu Krieger and Rodrigo Maranhão unravel the mysteries of songs composed for names such as María Bethânia, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, António Zambujo, Roberta Sá, Adriana Calcanhotto, Elba Ramalho, Elza Soares, Maria Rita, Beth Carvalho, among others.
The concert line-up includes themes such as “Medalha de São Jorge” recorded by Bethânia, “Burguesinha” and “Mina do Condomínio” recorded by Seu Jorge, “Caminho das Águas” by Maria Rita, “Guia” which gave its name to the debut album in Brazil by António Zambujo, “Cabô, meu pai” a success in the voice of Zeca Pagodinho, “Saudades da Guanabara” immortalized by Beth Carvalho, “Deus Há de Ser” by queen Elza Soares, “Noite Severina” by Ney Matogrosso, among many others.
This is a celebration of popular songs, their secrets, and their life inside, but also the best that has been done in the very rich universe of music in the Portuguese language.
“Voz dos Compositores” takes place on June 7th, at Coliseu dos Recreios, in Lisbon, at 9 pm.
