The “Walking Weekend” hiking festival in Pampilhosa da Serra on May 17, 18 and 19 offers a series of “alternative activities“, combining hiking, tradition and nature, which was announced today.
“Walking Weekend is much more than a hiking festival,” said the Pampilhosa House, adding that the participants in this fourth edition “will be able to combine hiking and discovering what the best Pampilhosa da Serra has to offer in an environment of communion with nature. ”
The festival starts on May 17, a Friday, with the reception of participants at the Villa Pampilhosa Hotel, a 4-star hotel in Pampilhosa da Serra. The event starts with a “unique gastronomic show, through a ‘finger food’, made up of typical mountain food.”
“We want the gastronomic experience to be a very integral part of what the Walking Weekend experience is,” says Gonçalo Lima, the city’s tourism technician.
Alternative experiences are stored for the second day, with a hot air balloon flight in captivity, the main novelty of this year’s edition, or a “boat and canoe trip” on the Zêzere River.
Participants will also be able to enjoy a ‘showroom’ of walking material, promoted by Decathlon, partner of the event for the 3rd consecutive year, and a traditional dance workshop, “in which participants will be able to know a little of what they were the traditions of this territory, through dance, “explains the technician.
The walk around the watercourses ‘Drip for Nature’, which traditionally is the highlight of the festival, is scheduled for the last day.
“The waterfalls in Pampilhosa da Serra have been a huge success. This year, the walk will take place in an area about 2.5 km away and will walk along a water circuit in the Rio Unhais, “said Fernando Saraiva, founder of Epic Land, an adventure sports company that collaborates with the municipality in the organization of the festival.
The organization places at the disposal of the walkers 2 types of registration: general, valid for the 3 days with access to all activities and meals provided in the program, or daily registration, with access to all activities and meals planned for the day required.
The general ticket has a cost of 50 euros, for registrations made until April 30. The daily tickets cost 40 euros for the 18th, and 20 euros for the 19th.
