“Wanderer Songs (Canções do Andarilho)”, an invocation of the music and ideals of José Afonso with a 21st-century touch, a new look, but with the same emotion and talent, those responsible for the excellent concert are Tiago Correia-Paulo, Roberto Afonso, Patricia Relvas, Selma Uamusse, Augusto Macedo, Diogo Sousa, Nástio Mosquito and Vic Pereiró.
Born from an invitation to several contemporary artists, “Cantares do Andarilho” or “Wanderer Songs”, as it is known internationally, is a project of artistic reinterpretation of José Afonso’s musical repertoire, inspired by the historic concert that the musician performed at the Coliseu de Lisbon, January 1983.
Artistically prepared during April 2024, through an artistic residency at Teatro Faialense, in the Azores, it featured the participation of Portuguese and foreign artists, invited by Pedro Afonso, who is the Musical Director, Tiago-Correia Paulo, P.S. Lucas, Lavoisier, Selma Uamusse, Nacho Vegas, the musicians Augusto Macedo and Diogo Sousa and also Nástio Mosquito and Vic Pereiró in the audiovisuals.
After visiting Casa da Música, yesterday it was the turn of Tivoli BBVA in Lisbon to welcome them, on a beautiful journey through some of the most beautiful and emblematic songs of Portuguese music, “Dorme meu menino”, “Milho Verde”, “A Morte Saiu à Rua”, “Era Um Redondo Vocábulo”, “Os Vampiros” among many others.
