With “great sadness”, Andanças Festival cancels edition of 2019
The organization ensures that the festival will not end.
The Andanças organization reported on Tuesday night, fans, through a publication shared on the festival’s Facebook page, that the 24th edition of the event was canceled.
According to the PédeXumbo Association, the festival, which was scheduled for the week of August 4 to 10, was canceled because “there are currently no alternatives to the space where it was planned to take place.”
This year, Andanças was expected to return to the banks of the reservoir of the Póvoa e Meadas Dam, in the municipality of Castelo de Vide. However, “despite all the efforts made,” the organization says, “it is impossible at this moment to guarantee the necessary assumptions for the realization” of the festival.
Although not held this year, the organization ensures that this option does not put an end to this festival that has more than 20 years.
“In this interregnum, we will design Andanças in a format adapted to the emerging challenges, designed to provide conditions that respond to the present climate change and based on sustainability and preservation of the environment, guarantee a full experience to our participants, artists, volunteers, and partners,” they explain.
Also in the publication shared in the page of Facebook of the festival, the organization guarantees that all the festivals that already have acquired tickets will be contacted in order to articulate the immediate reimbursement of the amount spent.
