Women’s national team wins silver in table tennis

The Portuguese women’s team won the European team table tennis runner-up this Sunday after losing 0-3 in the French city of Nantes to Romania.

In the first meeting of the afternoon, Bernadette Szocs beat Jiani Shao 3-2, and in the second, Daniela Monteiro Dodean (wife of Portuguese table tennis player João Monteiro), defeated Fu Yu by the same partial.

In the third (and theoretically more unbalanced) match, Elizabeta Samara confirmed the favoritism, beat Leila Oliveira 3-0 and sealed the Romanian team’s triumph, which thus revalidated the title of European champion.

Despite the defeat, it is noteworthy the historic result achieved by Portugal, who had never won any medal in the European table tennis Championships in the female side.
