WOW celebrates Teacher’s Day
Teacher’s Day is marked on October 5th. WOW has prepared a series of activities to celebrate the occasion and, like in previous years, will also offer teachers tickets to the museums. From 3 PM to 6 PM, there is a program entirely dedicated to educators, taking place at Lemon Plaza.
On October 5th, Saturday, the cultural block of Gaia will be open to all teachers. Teacher’s Day is celebrated, and WOW will promote an Open Day.
At Lemon Plaza, the interior square of WOW, the program starts at 3 PM and ends at 6:15 PM. At the beginning of the afternoon, the Educational Agenda for the cultural block for the 2024/2025 academic year will be presented by Valter Teixeira, responsible for WOW’s Educational Service.
At 3:30 PM, the presentation of the Catalog ‘The Masterpieces of The Bridge Collection‘ will take place, with the participation of the authors: Adrian Bridge, Andreia Esteves, Ana Marques, and Teresa Alves. Following this, there will be a guided tour of the museum The Art of Drinking, led by collector Adrian Bridge.
At 5:15 PM, a round table will begin on the relationship between museums and the school community. To discuss this topic, there will be Patrícia Remelgado from Areal; Ana Lobão from MMIPO – Museum of Mercy of Porto; Helena Pinto from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (FLUP); and Valter Teixeira from WOW. The conversation will be moderated by Sandra Teixeira from Verdenovo. There will also be time for a presentation from Universidade Júnior during the afternoon.
Entry and participation for teachers are completely free. For those bringing children, there will be some mini workshops and story readings at the Educational Service stand in Lemon Plaza.
Throughout the day, teachers who present proof of teaching will receive a ticket for all the museums, as well as a 20% discount for their companions. Registration must be done here. On the same day, teachers will also receive a 10% discount at all WOW restaurants.
Teacher’s Day is organized by WOW with the support of partners: Areal Editores, Portuguese Association of Museology (APOM), Porto dos Museus, Cityrama Gray Line Portugal, MMIPO, Verdenovo, and Universidade Júnior.
