Writer and philosopher A. Oliveira Cruz launches new book of poems

This Thursday, the writer and philosopher António Oliveira Cruz, president of the Piaget Institute, presented his new book of poems, entitled É vida… O Bem Maior!…”.

As part of the work “Haï-Cantos”, this XVII volume of its already extensive poetic activity is edited, like its antecedents, by Edições Piaget.

The book was launched at the Lisbon Book Fair, in Parque Eduardo VII, with the presentation by the essayist and literary critic José Fernando Tavares, followed by the philologist and essayist Fernando Paulo Baptista.

Born in Bigas, in the municipality of Viseu, where he was born in 1945, António Oliveira Cruz is a founding member of multiple institutions and centers of a social and educational nature, namely the Piaget Institute to which he chairs, as well as the Piaget International Association (AsPI).

In 1988, recalling Bartolomeu Dias and Fernando Pessoa, as well as the beginning of the celebrations of the Discoveries, he began to edit the poetic work he has been doing since he was 13 years old.

Since 1989, he has also directed the organization of the “Cancioneiro Infanto-Juvenil para o Língua Portuguesa”, a project of enormous social and cultural reach, which will enable another understanding of the child and his creative evolution.

In addition to his poetic work, he published several scientific/pedagogical and editorial articles and the books “Piaget’s Theory and the Production Mechanisms of Pedagogical Ideology” and “Logic of Life and Education” (this as co-author).
