25 editions later, the return to the MEO Stage, on the 9th of August, of one of the most cherished bands of the Portuguese public.
About to enter the month of June, we are getting closer and closer to the best week of summer vacation for thousands of festival-goers. From the 9th to the 12th of August, with the opening of the campsite on the 5th, MEO Sudoeste returns to Zambujeira do Mar, and the tribe gathers again, following in the footsteps of all those who have passed through there over the years, in search of moments of sharing and emotion.
In the celebrations of the 25 editions of MEO Sudoeste, there will be everything that made this festival a reference event in Portugal and also some surprises to further increase the celebratory atmosphere. As such, the MEO Stage poster could not leave aside names that have marked the festival in these 25 editions and join in the same night a name that is already a regular presence, David Guetta, and a band that was present in the first edition, at the beginning of everything: the unavoidable Xutos & Pontapés who join the party on the 9th of August, on the MEO Stage, completing the lineup of this stage.
XUTOS & PONTAPÉS
In 2023, and for many years now, Xutos & Pontapés is a truly national institution. More than four decades after its start, the band is today the emblem of what rock & roll means in Portuguese, by the Portuguese, and for the Portuguese. Tim, Zé Pedro, Kalú, João Cabeleira, and Gui built an authentic love story with the Portuguese public. Owners of a really enviable collection of classics, the Xutos are true “stage animals”, musicians who live for the concert party, reinforcing in each performance these indestructible bonds with an audience that has always been present at the call throughout so many years of career. The identity of Xutos is made up of two guitars opening, a pumping drum, the bass marking the pulse, 1-2-3-4, three basic chords, and the unbridled running of the horse on the loose, with that loyal audience always with arms crossed in an X, celebrating some of the greatest anthems in the history of Portuguese rock. Albums such as “Circo de Feras”, “Cerco”, “Gritos Mudos” and themes such as “O Homem do Leme”, “A Minha Casa”, “Contentores”, “À Minha Manta”, among many others, are part of the of Portuguese music and have already crossed several generations of fans. After celebrating the 35th anniversary of “Circo de Feras”, one of the band’s most important albums, Xutos now join another celebration: the 25th edition of MEO Sudoeste. On the 9th of August, on the MEO Stage, there will be reasons to celebrate with the biggest band in the country.
