The new album by fadista Ricardo Ribeiro is titled ‘Respeitosa Mente’, was recorded with musicians João Paulo Esteves da Silva and Jarrod Cagwin and is published on April 26, released today its record label.

The interpreter of “Porta do Coração” performed in October 2017 with percussionist Jarrod Cagwin, in the ambit of the project “Carta Branca“, of the Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon, in honour of José Afonso.
Jarrod Cagwin is a percussionist, part of the group of Lebanese aliaser and composer Rabih Abou-Khalil, with whom Ricardo Ribeiro acts regularly, having recorded an album in 2008.
Ricardo Ribeiro was the first singer to record with Rabih Abou-Khalil. The Lebanese musician and composer composed for Ricardo Ribeiro “Toada de Portalegre“, by José Régio, which premiered in Lisbon at the S. Luiz Theater in November 2016, also accompanied by the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon, in a concert that also had the participation of Jarrod Cagwin.
The pianist Esteves da Silva has also regularly collaborated with Ricardo Ribeiro, and the fadista has already interpreted themes of his authorship, lyrics and music, namely “O Sítio”.
Last year, he worked with the pianist at the “Encontros” of the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation, at the Jardim Botânico Tropical, in Lisbon.
“This work is based on the poetry of several authors, mostly Portuguese, the poetry of great sensitivity that was dressed by the musicality of these three friends, in an unusual way,” reads the statement from Warner Music, which highlights the “powerful and captivating voice “by Ricardo Ribeiro.
“Respeitosa Mente” happens to the album “Hoje É Así, Tomorrow Não Sei” (2016), which was awarded the Carlos Paredes / 2017 Prize, from the Vila Franca de Xira Chamber.
In addition to having been distinguished by the Portuguese State with the Order of Infante (degree of Commander), Ricardo Ribeiro received two Amália, Revelation and Best Fadista Awards, respectively in 2005 and 2011, and his work has been highlighted by the magazine of ‘world music ‘Songlines, which soon drew attention to the performer, putting his album “Today Is So, Tomorrow I Do not Know” among the finalists for Best Album of the Year in 2017.
