Portugal beats Gibraltar and is close to qualifying for the U21 Euro
The Portuguese football team won 3-0 in Gibraltar today and secured at least second place in Group 7 qualifying for the U21 European Championship.
Jota (16 minutes) and Pedro Gonçalves (50 and 80) scored the goals of the Portuguese team at Victoria Stadium in Gibraltar.
Portugal currently have 18 points, six less than leader Holland (one more game), who today thrashed Cyprus 7-0, and have already qualified.
Norway, with one more game, is third, with 10 points, followed by Belarus, with eight, Cyprus (another game), with seven, and Gibraltar, which has not yet scored.
For the European Under-21 Championship, scheduled for 2021, in Hungary and Slovenia, the nine winners of the qualifying groups and the five best runners-up are qualified.
