Torres Vedras wants to create fund to support reconstruction of Notre-Dame
‘Municipal Fund 5.10.15’ is the name of the initiative of the Câmara de Torres Vedras and the objective is that the municipalities participate with donations by the number of inhabitants. The proposal has already been sent to the Government and to the Presidency of the Republic.
The town council of Torres Vedras wants to create a fund to support the reconstruction of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, after the fire that broke out on Monday at the historic monument.
This support initiative was decided at a House meeting on Tuesday. ‘Municipal Fund 5.10.15 Portugal by Notre-Dame’ is the name of the initiative, in which municipalities can contribute five thousand euros, in the case of municipalities with between five and 20 thousand inhabitants, ten thousand euros, in the case of municipalities with between 20 and 100 thousand inhabitants, and 15 thousand euros, for municipalities with more than 100 thousand inhabitants, explains the municipality in a statement.
The fund in question, proposed by the Torres Vedras Chamber, should be managed by the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP) and the Ministry of Culture, and the association should define the appropriate values to be made available.
The municipalities will be able to contribute until December 31, with the amount raised to be delivered to the French Government, at the City Hall of Paris, on January 2, 2020.
The autarchy of the account that the proposal to create the Municipal Fund 5.10.15 Portugal for Notre-Dame has already been sent to the Minister of Culture, as well as to the Prime Minister, the President of the Republic, the President of the Assembly of the Republic and to the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities.
In addition to the mobilization of the Portuguese municipalities, the Municipality of Torres Vedras intends that the initiative be disseminated to all member states of the European Union.
