Fourteen bands from Portugal and Galicia will present their work at Mumi’s music market

The fair advances the first confirmations of its professional program integrated by a selection of bands and artists that embrace stylistic diversity and that in many cases share a substrate where roots music is the source of inspiration.

A bundle of very high-quality proposals which will represent traditional music, rock, electronics, jazz, urban music, indie-pop, or author songs, and which reflect the great creative moment of the two territories. The program will also feature a Catalan musical proposal, the result of an exchange with Fira Mediterrânia de Manresa.

After a tough selection process motivated by the success of the call that closed with a total of 244 artistic proposals applied for the showcases, MUMI announces the bands and artists that will configure the fair’s professional program between September 21st and 24th. Eight names from Galicia and six from Portugal will show the public, both professional and general, the diversity of musical proposals that coexist today.

Galiza will present Antía Muíño, Mondra, Anxo Araújo, Diego Alonso 5tet, Habelas Hainas, Lontreira, Moura and Xurxo Fernándes; from Portugal will arrive the proposals of Aníbal Zola, Expresso Transatlântico, María Monda, Maze, Retimbrar andVirgin Suta.

The organizing team points out that diversity continues to be the keyword in the live music that will be offered at MUMI 2023, with a mosaic of bands and artists that respond to the richness of Galician and Portuguese music. From new approaches to traditional music to electronics, passing through jazz, pop, urban music or author songs, the programmed showcases capture the musical effervescence that is created on the banks of the Minho with a very prominent presence of the songs they experience from of their roots, and who fortunately do not let them disappear. A total of fourteen proposals from bands and artists with a consolidated trajectory, backed by professional agencies, which are already working quite well in their territories and who want to open up to other markets, a feat that demonstrates the strength of music and the need of the music industry having a space like MUMI.

Collaboration with Fira Mediterrania de Manresa
This first advance will be joined in the coming months by a program of conferences and joint work sessions, as well as other musical proposals that will be invited to participate in the meeting, among which will be a collaboration with Fira Mediterrânia de Manresa, the reference for songs that use roots, tradition and popular culture as a creative engine. Thanks to this exchange, MUMI will feature in its programming a Catalan musical proposal selected by Fira, which will also receive in its next edition in October, a Galician proposal from the last edition of MUMI, which will have the opportunity to hold a showcase in this important market. where programmers from all over the world meet.
