Liberdade25 by Sérgio & os Assessores
Coliseu de Lisboa on March 20th and Coliseu Porto Ageason March 23rd
Later this year, a compilation in multiple formats will be published that brings together some of Sérgio Godinho’s best studio and live moments.
The “songwriter” is returning to the Coliseus in 2024. On the 20th and 23rd of March, “Sérgio & Os Assessores” will present live in Lisbon and Porto, respectively, the show that will be on the road next year: “LIBERDADE25”, the celebration of a career that is intertwined with the history of everyday Portuguese life and which has a song composed in 1974 as one of its obligatory anthems.
It is not the first time that Sérgio has used the song “Liberdade” to set the tone for his shows – precisely a decade ago he toured national stages with a production with the same title that even gave rise to a live album of the same name. The passage of half a century since the Carnation Revolution justifies a new visit to his most engaged repertoire which in 2024 continues to justify the exponentiation of the word “FREEDOM” and now, also of “25”, as the greatest day of its expression, just as Sophia immortalized in “This is the dawn I was waiting for”.
But if the song composed for the album “À Queima Roupa” is the unifying element, the route proposed to the public will review the rich discography made up of 20 studio albums and 10 live recordings, without forgetting a close look at “freedom” that others have announced in the last quarter of a century and to which Sérgio proposes to give voice. This and a renewed look with the complicity of Os Assessores (Nuno Rafael, Miguel Fevereiro, João Cardoso, Nuno Espírito Santo, and Sérgio Nascimento), also for themes that time has not forgotten but has removed from the stage.
and more…
In addition to the shows announced for March, Sérgio Godinho currently has several artistic projects underway. After recently publishing “75 Songs”, a publication in which he brought together scores, lyrics, chords, and photographs covering his more than 50 years of activity, his new novel with the approval of Quetzal will be released this year.
Also at a recording level, the end of the year will bring news: a compilation in multiple formats that brings together some of his best moments in the studio and live. This edition is also complemented with rare recordings spread across several editions.
and still…
Finally, yesterday the short film “Era uma vez no apocalipse” premiered at the MOTELX-Lisbon International Horror Film Festival, which featured Sérgio Godinho. Directed by Tiago Pimentel, this is a foray into the area of representation, this time starring Mariana Pacheco and Paulo Calatré, taking on the character of “Ernesto“.
