North Festival starts in a month
Alejandro Sanz, Keane and Nelly Furtado are the headliners of the North Festival, which takes place, for the first time, in Parque de Serralves.
The North Festival – which runs from May 24th to 26th – is already counting down. In precisely one month, the festival will open its doors to welcome festival-goers, who will fill Serralves Park with their contagious energy and love for music. The poster presents a diverse line-up, to respond to the most different musical tastes. From pop to indie rock, trap and flamenco, there will be no shortage of music and entertainment during the three days of the festival.
The first day will bring the best of Latin rhythms to Invicta. Opening the main stage of the festival will be Nininho Vaz Maia, who performed in the last edition of the North Festival, and who promises, once again, to deliver the rhythms of the gypsy tradition to the best level. This will be followed by performances by Spanish singer Iñigo Quintero, to warm the audience’s hearts, and by Maria Becerra and Myke Towers, who will infect festival-goers with their reggaeton sounds. Alejandro Sanz is the big star of the first day of the festival and will close the main stage, in a long-awaited return to Portuguese lands by fans of one of the icons of Latin music.
KEANE CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF THE ALBUM “HOPES AND FEARS”
May 25th will also mark the return of Plaza, a Portuguese band that will “open the hosts” on the main stage to celebrate 20 years of the album “Meeting Point”. The British band The Reytons promises to electrify the public with their indie rock, while Birdy and Tom Odell promise to engage festival-goers with their ballads in an emotional and total commitment environment. Celebrating two decades of their most successful album will be headliners Keane. The British band, always much loved by the Portuguese public, will present a concert where there will be no shortage of hits such as “Somewhere Only We Know” or “Everybody’s Changing”.
20 YEARS AFTER EURO 2004, NELLY FURTADO RETURNS TO PORTUGAL
To end the festival on a high note, Brazilian culture will be celebrated in a demonstration of the diversity and musical richness that Brazil produces. Wiu, with a younger sound, will make the audience vibrate with his trap. Bell Marques and Claudia Leitte will transport the carnival atmosphere so typical of Brazil to Serralves Park. Grupo Menos é Mais will confirm the growing fan base in Portugal and, in turn, will infect the public with its pagoda. Nelly Furtado will close the main stage of the 2024 edition of the North Festival, a performance that marks the long-awaited return of the Portuguese-Canadian singer to Portugal, 20 years after releasing “Força”, the Euro 2004 anthem.
