The Singles – The First Fifty Years brings together all ABBA singles released by Polar Music until 1982, as well as the singles from the 2021 album Voyage.
The 50th anniversary of ABBA’s victory in the Eurovision Song Contest on 6 April 1974 was widely celebrated around the world – not just their triumph with “Waterloo”, but the group’s incredible achievements and their position as one of the greatest pop bands in the world. And the celebrations aren’t over yet! In October 2024, a magnificent box set will be released with the A-sides of ABBA singles: The Singles – The First Fifty Years. The collection brings together, for the first time, not only all ABBA singles released by Polar Music until 1982 but also the singles released with the 2021 album Voyage.
Based on the classic ABBA collection The Singles – The First Ten Years, originally released in 1982, this new box set expands the concept by updating the story, including all ABBA singles released between 1972 and 2022. Available on four vinyl records and one Double CD, The Singles – The First Fifty Years is a journey through some of the greatest pop music ever recorded. From the group’s 1972 debut single “People Need Love” to “No Doubt About It” (2022) from the album Voyage, the 38-song box set features masterpieces like “SOS”, “Mamma Mia”, “ Fernando”, “Dancing Queen”, “Knowing Me, Knowing You”, “Take A Chance On Me”, “Chiquitita”, “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)”, “The Winner Takes It All”, “Super Trouper”, “One Of Us”, “Don’t Shut Me Down” and all other great ABBA hits.
To complete the story, The Singles – The First Fifty Years includes four additional tracks not released as A-sides by Polar Music, but which were singles in some countries at the time: “Hasta Mañana”, “Angeleyes” (a double A-side with “ Voulez-Vous” in some countries), “Lay All Your Love On Me” and “When All Is Said And Done”. This box comes with an illustrated booklet with texts by Carl Magnus Palm.
The Singles – The First Fifty Years is the definitive celebration of ABBA’s pop music genius!
