Created last year, the Film Fest returns between Friday and October 18th, continuing to recover the format of the cine-concerts, through unique interdisciplinary meetings, with the exhibition of classic films, as well as author films, accompanied by musicians in live performances, reinventing soundtracks in a unique and unrepeatable way.
‘A Antena‘, by Esteban Sapir, accompanied by the Loudspeaker Orchestra of Miso Music Portugal, marks the opening of the Film Fest, on Friday at 9:30 pm at the Luísa Todi Municipal Forum.
In the illustrious unknown section, dedicated to directors and films that in one way or another are forgotten by the general public or have never been presented in Portugal, ‘Filibus‘, by Marco Roncoroni, will be shown live by Gonçalo Simões, Josefina Alcaide and Pedro Carvalho, and ‘A Caverna da Mulher-Aranha‘, by Dan Duyu, music by Bruno Teixeira Trio.
In the sessions dedicated to great classics of silent cinema and restored works, it will be possible to see ‘Nosferatu the Vampire‘, by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, music by Caterina Palazzi, and ‘The Princess of Ostras‘, by Ernst Lubitsch, music by Luís Lipe Martins, Luís Barrigas and Jorge Moniz.
In Mulher Pioneiras, the section dedicated to directors of silent and experimental cinema, with some of the works and filmmakers unknown to the general public, films by Maya Deren and Lotte Reiniger will be shown. The Family Session includes a series of short films by ‘Pirates and Mermaids, Oysters and Whales‘.
The Film Fest program also includes school sessions and workshops, the latter taking place at Casa da Cultura.
The cinema sessions are divided between the Luísa Todi Municipal Forum and the Charlot Cinema. The times and prices can be consulted at https://www.festivalfilmfest.com/.
