The direction of the festival announced a condensed edition, between today and Thursday, in that French city, with the exhibition of four feature films of the “official selection of Cannes 2020”, of the short films in competition and also of the films of the Cinéfondation program.
The film “O Cordeiro de Deus“, by David Pinheiro Vicente, was selected for the competition of short films, and “Corte“, by the directors Afonso Rapazote and Bernardo Rapazote, is part of the Cinéfondation program.
The jury of the two competitions is composed by the director and screenwriter Claire Burger, by the actor Damien Bonnard, by the director Rachid Bouchareb, by the producer Charles Gillibert, by the director and screenwriter Dea Kulumbegashvili, and by the actress Céline Sallette.
The four feature films chosen for this reduced edition of Cannes are “Un triomphe“, by Emmanuel Courcol, “True Mothers”, by Naomi Kawase, “Beginning“, by Dea Kulumbegashvili, and “Les Deux Alfred”, by Bruno Kiberlain.
The organization had previously announced a series of films that could be shown in cinemas in the fall in 2021, under the “official selection of Cannes” label.
Among the films announced in early June were “Na Penumbra“, by Lithuanian director Sharunas Bartas, co-produced by Portuguese Terratreme, “The French Dispatch“, by Wes Anderson, “Été 85“, by François Ozon, “Falling“, by Viggo Mortensen, “Soul“, by Peter Docter by Pixar Studios, and “Aya and the Witch“, by Goro Miyazaki, the first 3D animated film from Ghibli Studios.
In addition to this announcement, the board marked the 74th edition of the Cannes festival on the agenda, for the 11th to the 22nd of May 2021.
