New Year’s Concert at TMJB
Orquestra Clássica do Sul will be at TMJB, on January 3rd, at 9 pm, for the traditional New Year’s Concert.
There are twelve chimes that mark the new year, and twelve wishes that we formulate between raisins and toasts, love and hope, for each month to come. There are also twelve Dances of the World that Orquestra Clássica do Sul has chosen especially for this occasion of celebration, joy, and fun, which will not leave anyone in the place.
The Orquestra Clássica do Sul (OCS) was born from a desire – the creation of a regional orchestra of classical music in the Algarve – and from the union of wills of different personalities linked to culture, who fulfilled the mission of bringing to the South region a program of high artistic quality. Founded in 2002, it became Orquestra Clássica do Sul in September 2013, with Cesário Costa as Principal Conductor and Artistic Director. At that time, OCS took on new challenges and expanded its territory of action, also covering the regions of Alentejo, Setúbal Peninsula, and Andalusia. The programming presented each season integrates works ranging from the baroque to the contemporary, providing performances that are different from each other, and seek to make known the breadth and versatility of classical music. As of January 2023, Orquestra Clássica do Sul has Martim Sousa Tavares as Principal Conductor.
