D.A.M.A presented their new EP yesterday at Poolside HUB to some fans, friends and family and premiered the video for the song “Mãe“, amidst much joy and emotion. In the company of so many friends, the trio explained the origin of each song.
In the company of Bandidos do Cante, who with Buba Espinho and Vitorino brought Cante Alentejano to this fantastic work by D.A.M.A, they sang, played and revealed the origin of each theme in the new EP Canções Bonitas em Português – Vol. I. of which the hits “CASA” feat. Buba Espinho and “Loucamente” feat. Los Romeros, as well as the new single “Mãe“, of which they revealed the video, today at zero o’clock.
For D.A.M.A, Mother’s Day is not just on the first Sunday in May. In their new single, “Mãe“, the Lisbon trio celebrates all mothers and expresses collective gratitude for being raised in an environment of love. Kasha says this song “talks about a greater love and the feeling of guilt because we know that, as children, in our paths, we will challenge many things, except the unconditional love of our mothers.”
Proving that Mother’s Day is every day and to make them smile, the band organized a billboard campaign in several train stations from North to South of the country with vinyls on the floor saying “Thank you, Mother” in all of them and, also, distribution of sunflowers in some train and metro stations in Lisbon as per the promise in the song: “to bring you a sunflower that you will put in the vase at the entrance”. They had the support of Infraestruturas de Portugal, JCDecaux and Horto do Campo Grande for this action.
As the name of the EP indicates, D.A.M.A is celebrating Portugal and Portuguese music, almost completing a cycle that was born in the environment of the quadruple-platinum “CASA” and the (almost double) platinum “Loucamente”, which gave the theme for the three sold-out coliseums in Porto and Lisbon last June – a concert filmed and broadcast on TVI that was the audience leader on October 7th.
This short film is “a world where the essence of D.A.M.A’s songs and the roots of Portugueseness come together with the aim of uniting all speakers of the Portuguese language”, explains Miguel Cristovinho. Volume II is still an unknown, but this volume I exalts the Alentejo and its people, “equipped with both tenderness and enormous strength”, says Miguel Coimbra. “We left everything to the melodies, notes and words. From the musicians to the instruments and from the lyrics to the throat, we sang the Alentejo”, he adds.
Canções Bonitas em Português – Vol. I consists of six tracks, including the aforementioned single “CASA” feat. Buba Espinho, “Loucamente” feat. Los Romeros and “Mãe“; but also three songs in partnership with Buba Espinho and the Bandidos do Cante: “Pelo Toque”, “É O Que É” and “Menina Estás à Janela”, which also features Vitorino himself. The EP is now available on all digital platforms.
