Edmundo Inácio presents “Terra,” his new single, which arrives on all digital platforms this Friday. In a personal song, the artist explores the need to follow one’s dreams and be physically uprooted from one’s roots.
With a melody that skillfully blends the best of contemporary Portuguese music with references to popular music and a unique vocal delivery, “Terra” is a portrait of the contradiction between homesickness and the need to pursue a greater dream.
In the chorus, Edmundo sings: “I was uprooted from the earth, because my dream has no space there, little space for long lines.” These verses serve as the heart of the song, capturing the feeling of uprooting and the struggle between love for one’s homeland and the suffocation of a lack of prospects.
“Terra” maintains the unique hallmark of Edmundo Inácio’s music: the fusion of a traditional soul, sounds reminiscent of Portuguese tradition, and a contemporary courage that skillfully blends the traditional with the contemporary.
This release reinforces Edmundo Inácio’s artistic versatility and his ability to reinvent himself musically, confirming him as one of the most original and relevant names in new Portuguese music. “Terra” is the second sample from his second album of new songs, following the acclaimed single “Com Quem Será?” (With Whom It Will Be?).
Edmundo Inácio found his voice on The Voice Portugal in 2021, where he discovered a deep connection with traditional Portuguese music. His participation in the 2023 Festival da Canção, where he won an outstanding 2nd place with “A Festa,” solidified his place in the music scene. In 2024, he released his acclaimed debut album, “Vai-se Andando?“, a work that blends traditional influences with a modern sensibility. In early 2025, he released an extended version, which already included the single “Quem Me Dera.”
“Terra” is now available on all digital platforms.
