The chef of the well-known Ristorante Italiano de Matosinhos is one of the participants in the Minho event dedicated to transalpine gastronomy and culture.
After an auspicious debut, the Pizza Festival is returning to the historic center of Vila Nova da Cerveira for its II edition, from the 15th to the 17th. The proposed journey through Italian gastronomy and culture this time also includes the flavors, aromas, and colors of the specialties of chef Sergio Crivelli, who has in Matosinhos one of the references of genuine transalpine cuisine in Greater Porto.
For the initiative – which includes the participation of more exhibitors, in addition to local pizzerias -, the well-known chef, who has lived in our country for decades, has already designed what will be one of the highlights of the menu for the three days of the program: a risotto of fresh black truffles, recently arrived from his homeland and which Sergio Crivelli prepares like few others, doing justice to his culinary passion for mushrooms and other fungi.
The choice will also include, among other delicacies, the fresh four-cheese paste (a rigatoni), which, like the risotto, will be prepared using two forms of Grana Padano cheese, purposely arrived from Italy for this purpose.
Culinary workshops, show cookings, various demonstrations, live concerts by Italian musicians, and even a concentration of Vespa motorbikes are part of the program of the II Vila Nova de Cerveira Pizza Festival.
Promoted by the Associazione Sapori Italiani and the municipality of Cerveira, the event will award the Alto Minho Pizzaiolo Trophy on the last day, following the competition that will have classic pizza as its queen.
“I join the initiative with great pleasure. It was designed to please all age groups and will allow visitors to get a taste of Italy, even beyond the gastronomic aspect, thanks to the complementary activities that were designed to complement the event”, says Sergio Crivelli. All this in the heart of the historic center of a village overlooking the River Minho, small in size but large in heritage, including natural heritage.
