Europa League: Leverkusen beats FC Porto

FC Porto went to Germany to play against Bayer Leverkusen in a night of Europa League and left defeated by 2-1.

After a difficult first half, in which they had practically ball possession, the Portuguese team reacted in the second half and ended up scoring an away goal that could be decisive in the second leg match.

The Germans were more effective in the opening minutes against FC Porto and gained the advantage before the 30th-minute mark, with a goal from Lucas Alario.

The Porto players started better in the second half, however, Volland was fouled by the defender in the penalty area. The penalty was scored in a bid in which the VAR was active. Marchesin saved but the penalty had to be repeated because the Argentine left the goal line before the German’s shot. Havertz did not waist his second chance.

FC Porto managed to reduce the advantage in the 73rd-minute with a header by Luis Díaz, after a free-kick.
