Expresso Transatlântico confirmed at Ageas Cooljazz 2024

Expresso Transatlântico will debut at Ageas Cooljazz on July 30th, the penultimate night of the 20th anniversary edition. The Portuguese band presents their first album Ressaca Bailada (2023) live, immediately before the New Zealanders Fat Freddy’s Drop.

Expresso Transatlântico is a musical journey between the influences of Portuguese tradition and contemporary global sounds. With Gaspar Varela (Portuguese guitar), Sebastião Varela (electric guitar) and Rafael Matos (drums), the band musically illustrates their experiences with the cosmopolitan and multicultural city of Lisbon as inspiration, making the Portuguese guitar the main character of their themes.

After the success of their debut EP, Expresso Transatlântico (2021), which took the Lisbon trio to major Portuguese and international stages, they now arrive at Ageas Cooljazz for a special concert, on a night of premieres.

On the same night, the collective Fat Freddy’s Drop also makes its debut at Ageas Cooljazz on July 30, 2024. The show takes place at the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo, in Cascais, which is preparing to welcome the New Zealanders. They are one of the most celebrated bands in the world when it comes to fusion music. Starting from jazz, soul, dub, rhythm and blues, combined with electronic music, Fat Freddy’s Drop stands out for being so unmatched in terms of musical style, creating a very wide fan base around them.

A night of special premieres, at Ageas Cooljazz 2024

The 2024 edition of Ageas Cooljazz has a poster that travels through the festival’s history, in the year in which it celebrates its 20th anniversary. Already confirmed are Air (9 July), Chaka Khan and Morcheeba, one night two concerts (10 July), Dino D’Santiago and MARO, one night two concerts (19 July), Diana Krall (26 July), Marina Sena and Luedji Luna, one night two concerts (27 July), Fat Freddy’s Drop (30 July), Jamie Cullum and Inês Marques Lucas (31 July).

20 years of Ageas Cooljazz. Live Experiences presented the first edition of Ageas Cooljazz in 2004, a different summer festival. As the years went by, there were iconic concerts, artists born at the festival, and the public increasingly surrendered to artistic criteria, as well as the comfort of the space. Ageas Cooljazz has unquestionably become one of the most important cultural events in the country, assuming its differentiation from year to year and focusing on what distinguishes it: a unique cultural lineup, the unique beauty of green spaces, the enjoyment of the architectural landscape, the comfort of the place marked at a summer festival and the total focus on sustainability from the first hour of its birth. Live Experiences is proud of 20 years of Ageas Cooljazz, with many stories made and many to be made.

Live Experiences, which celebrates 25 years of founding, has been the festival’s producer for 20 years and continues to provide unique experiences and emotions to spectators and partners, investing in vibrant and sustainable projects.

Ageas Cooljazz HAS 3 CONCERTS PER NIGHT
