FC Porto wins Hugo dos Santos Cup in basketball
FC Porto beat Sporting CP 72-68 and won their 4th Hugo dos Santos Cup, five years after their last win.
Sporting’s team entered full throttle, and supported by a very intense defense, managed to limit Porto to just two points until the sixth minute.
Until the end, both teams looked for the victory, but with seven seconds left, Travante Williams converted only one of his three free throws and opened the way for the Porto victory, capitalized by Eric Anderson Jr, who closed the scoring by scoring 72- 68.
FC Porto thus lifted the Hugo dos Santos trophy and won the first trophy of 2021.
Eric Anderson Jr. was the MVP of the match with 18 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal, with Jalen Riley (13pts, 3res, 1ast, 1rb) and Tanner McGrew (11pts, 3res, 5ast, 1rb) to be fundamental for Porto’s victory.
For Sporting, Travante Williams (12pts, 3tres, 4ast, 3rb, 1dl), Cláudio Fonseca (12pts, 8res, 2dl), Diogo Ventura (10pts, 2res, 2ast) and James Ellisor (10pts, 4res, 3ast, 3rb, 1dl) they were not enough to avoid defeat.
