MIL Festival returns to Lisbon in September
The festival dedicated to the discovery, promotion, appreciation and internationalization of popular music is back, MIL takes place on 15th, 16th, and 17th of September.
After the last physical edition canceled and the realization of some activities in digital format in 2020, MIL returns in 2021 with a renewed artistic and training program in face-to-face format. With Cais do Sodré’s music program rooms still unable to function, this year, the program of 50 concerts and the convention will take place at Hub Criativo do Beato.
From the music program, Carla Prata, a Portuguese-Angolan artist living in London who makes her national debut, YNDI, a French-Brazilian composer who won the COLORS show with ‘Ailleurs’ and is considered one of the biggest bets in the music market, stands out French for 2022, Naima Bock, bassist for Goat Girl who starts now in his own name, Queralt Lahoz, promise of the Spanish urban music scene that crosses rap, flamenco, R&B and copla, Dino Bradão and EU.CLIDES, mandatory names in the new pop and R&B, Faux Real, an anti-rock duo that mixes punk and disco, and Kelman Duran, a Dominican producer who is preparing a new work to present in Portugal.
The poster also includes, among many others, Acácia Maior, Bia Maria, Cabrita, Club Makumba, Fado Bicha, Gala Drop, Maria Reis, Marinho, Murals, Rosin de Palo, Stereoboy and Tristany.
In this edition, MIL also has two artistic residencies: the first, developed in partnership with the Instituto Ramon Llull, will bring together the Spanish Tarta Relena and the Portuguese Lavoisier, while the second, held in partnership with Liveurope, invites producer Pedro da Linha and musician Álvaro Romero (RomeroMartin).
