The oldest hotel in Porto, renovated last year after almost two years of work, has just received the North Rehabilitation Award, as part of the 2024 National Real Estate Award, organized by Magazine Imobiliário. This event aims to reward quality and innovation in real estate development.
Belonging to the STAY HOTELS hotel group since 2017, this historic building closed for works in 2021, reopening in August 2023, with 79 rooms, after undergoing an extensive renovation and expansion project.
Icon of the Belle Époque in Portugal, the historical relevance of the building in the city of Porto was maintained in every detail. The Art Nouveau-inspired entrance and refined decor are just some of the elements that transport visitors to this period.
The hotel is also known for having hosted great personalities of 19th-century Portuguese culture, such as Camilo Castelo Branco, Eça de Queirós, Guerra Junqueiro and Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro. In this sense, the hotel’s renovation honours this rich history, incorporating cultural and literary references in the hotel’s public areas.
“The intervention in this building allowed the hotel to be equipped with all the features and comforts of a modern hotel. But it made it possible, above all, to preserve the memory of the space and take guests to the original environment, full of history and personality”, said Magazine Imobiliário.

The winners were revealed last night, April 18th, during the big Real Estate ‘Oscars’ Gala, at the Vila Galé Sintra Resort Hotel Conference & Spa, with the presence of the most representative official entities in the sector.
