Iberanime Cosplay Challenge: 500 Cosplayers Unite for a Solidarity Cause

This is an invitation addressed to all cosplayers and fans of anime, manga and video games. The Iberanime community is preparing an extraordinary event that combines creativity, friendship and solidarity.

On March 23rd, at 2:30 pm, the iconic Bubble Time at Parque das Nações, in Lisbon, will transform into a vibrant place of cosplay magic. Whether you are an experienced cosplayer or simply love dressing up as your favourite character, this is the opportunity for everyone to come together with a concentration of talent and a lot of solidarity.

The Challenge: 500 Cosplayers, An Epic Gathering

We set an ambitious goal: 500 cosplayers gathered in one place. Imagine the energy, the colours and the pure joy of being surrounded by other fans and enthusiasts. But this is also an action of a social nature.

Cosplay for a Cause

This is where the magic truly happens. If we reach the goal of bringing together 500 cosplayers, the Iberanime team will donate €1000 to a social charity that will later be chosen by the participants. The passion for cosplay can therefore have an impact on the real world beyond the walls of pop culture conventions.

How to participate:

1. Mark your calendar: just set a reminder for March 23rd and get the group of cosplayers together.
2. Spread the news: share this news with other cosplayers, friends and followers.
3. Be creative: choose the best cosplay costume and do your best.

Let’s transform Parque das Nações into a place of imagination, friendship and solidarity. Together, we will celebrate the love of Japanese pop culture while making a difference in the lives of others.

Iberanime is the biggest Japanese pop culture event in Portugal

After the resounding success of the Porto edition in October last year, which brought together, at Exponor, 34,150 visitors, 92 exhibitors from different brands and more than 100 activities divided into stages and areas, it is Lisbon’s turn to welcome and showcase the various aspects of Japanese pop culture, with karaoke areas, dance (Para Para Dance), choreography (JoJo Pose), manga drawing, anime series, concerts, martial arts, gaming area, workshops, e-sports competitions, noodle competitions and a fair for brands and artists from the Japanese universe and pop culture.

The presence of Rica Matsumoto, the voice of Ash Ketchum, the main character of the Pokémon anime series, and also the singer of numerous themes from the television series and films, including the opening generic, who will star in the great Sunday concert; and Edo Haruma, animator, character designer and storyboard artist, currently living in Tokyo, Japan. He is also the illustrator responsible for the Iberanime posters for last year’s Lisbon and Porto editions and, again, for the Lisbon this year.

International Cosplay competitions are always a highlight of the event

At Iberanime in Lisbon, the Portuguese stage of the Extreme Cosplay Gathering takes place, the international Cosplay competition that will take the Portuguese representative to the final that takes place at the Japan Expo, in Paris. This competition takes place in 18 countries in Europe, North America and Oceania and is one of the most international Cosplay competitions.

Also on the Iberanime weekend, the Cosplay World Masters final will take place, which will select the grand winner of this international competition, which is the only one in the world with a final in our country and, usually, always features more than 12 countries every year.

There are also two more informal competitions: the Group Cosplay and the Iberanime Kids Contest, the Cosplay contest dedicated to the little ones, from 6 to 13 years old.

Tickets for Iberanime allow access to all event activities and can be purchased for €20 per individual entry per day. Two-day passes cost €36 and there are also child tickets (€15 each day) and family tickets, for two adults and two children, €55 each day.

Always confirm with the concert hall or promoter the conditions of access, confirmation of the date or time, ticket place of sale, price, and availability.
