The Portuguese driver fell, but it was the fall that defined the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna, and sealed the victory of the World Cup for Fabio Quartararo.
The new MotoGP world champion is Fabio Quartararo, who took fourth place at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix as Francesco Bagnaia failed to finish with less than five laps to go when he was ahead.
Quartararo, aged 22, took advantage of his first title in the world’s top motorcycle racing category for the first time in his career.
Victory went to Marc Márquez, followed by Pol Espargaró and Enea Bastianini, and Miguel Oliveira, who was in the fight for the podium until near the end, but lost control of the bike and crashed with four laps to go.
