“I don’t want to die here”, Book with photos about animal lives
Apresentado em Loulé
On January 27th, at 3 pm, at the Municipal Library of Loulé, Carlos Filipe presents his work “I don’t want to die here”.
“I don’t want to die here” is a book of texts and photographs that compile the lives of animals from various parts of the country with differences and similarities that unite and distinguish them. It contains stories of souls that were broken and came back together with lessons to teach us when we need the strength to continue.
“Does time pass quickly or slowly for those who have all the same days and the current only gives them a meter of freedom? What does a plate of food taste like when your whole life you haven’t been able to taste anything that doesn’t have ants on it or the taste of something that’s past its expiration date?
I stopped counting the number of animals I photographed to help them find a new life a long time ago. A better one than the one they had known until then. I have also given up listing the countless reasons why they stop serving, stop being an integral part of any family, stop deserving of belonging to the home they have always known.”
Carlos Filipe is from Aljustrel but currently lives in the Algarve. His photographic work focused a lot on feelings, on transferring to photography what was in his soul, what keeps us up at night, what worries us… Almost like an exercise. He spent two years traveling the world and when he returned he decided to take up photography again, but in a more adult way, exploring little-explored fields such as pet photography.
He currently has his photography studio in Lagoa, in the Algarve where, in addition to all the services he offers, he continues to collaborate with Animal Protection Associations, frequently receiving rescued animals that he photographs to boost their adoption. He launched the book “Amigos (im) Perfeitos” and created the exhibition with the same name that opened horizons for the acceptance of difference and the inclusion of what is different.
The session is free to enter.
It should be noted that, within the scope of this book, the photography exhibition with images of Carlos Filipe will be open to the public in the Library’s atrium until January 29th.
