New single by Entre Aspas “3 Minutos” and raising awareness of water resources

It’s called “3 Minutos” and it has an increasingly important message for the survival of all of us on Earth: the need to save the water that exists.

Viviane, lead singer and lyricist of Entre Aspas said that this invitation from Águas do Algarve came about because “we already knew some members of the company because, with my solo repertoire, I had already been invited by Águas do Algarve, to perform a concert in a awareness-raising action for the rational use of water on board the Caravela “Boa Esperança” in Lagos in 2019. Last year, in a conversation about the celebration of the 30th anniversary of “Entre Aspas and the fact that musically we have always represented the Algarve, came up So the idea of creating a song dedicated to the theme of saving water, which for us, because we live in the region and are sensitive to the topic, naturally seemed like a good way of contributing”.

At a time when “Entre Aspas” is releasing “new” singles such as GIN (which has been stored for over 20 years), we asked Tó Viegas (guitarist and composer) if this 3 Minutos was created on purpose or if it already existed. The musician responds to us “This theme was entirely composed by us this year for this campaign. The song lasts exactly 3 minutes, which aims to raise awareness among people not to spend that long in the shower just to start the day. There could be many other examples, but this one seemed to resonate with everyone so you now know that you can listen to the song during the shower and turn off the tap when it ends! (laughter)”!

But will this new single “3 Minutos” be part of the lineup of Entre Aspas shows (one of them is already on September 3rd in Águeda included in the musical program of Festa do Leitão)? Nuno Filhó (bassist and composer) said: “we are not thinking of playing the song live, but we want to present it at the end of each show, with the video playing at the back of the stage, in the form of a message to have a greater impact .”

Drought as well as water waste are two very important issues. In the Algarve, taking into account the low annual rainfall, water expenditure on crops and tourism has greatly affected the region. Viviane leaves a message: “Save, save, save! It’s the watchword for the locals and the people who visit us. In the past, people had to go to the fountains to get water in pitchers, nowadays we just need to turn on the tap and we have water is always available and this often leads to waste. Comfort is often the enemy of the planet and we have to be aware of the importance of water and its scarcity. It has hardly rained in the Algarve for several years and the drought is increasingly affecting the region’s economy and our lives. The whole of society has to come together to find solutions. What are we going to do when the water runs out of the tap? That’s the question we leave in our song. That day could come sooner than we thought…”
