Marega’s goal earned FC Porto three points to visit Rio Ave.
[dropcap type=”background”]F[/dropcap]C Porto went to Vila do Conde to beat Rio Ave 1-0. With a goal from Moussa Marega, in a match where Alex Telles twice hit the bar, and where the VAR scored a goal for Mehdi Taremi.
Carlos Carvalhal remained true to his principles and launched a Rio Ave who tried to grab the game, building his football from the defence.
However, the Vila-Condenses found it difficult to overcome FC Porto’s first pressure line.
Moussa Marega appeared in the penalty area but failed to sting the ball over Kieszek but shortly afterwards did not forgive, and then headed high into the net.
FC Porto after the goal controlled the game, although without creating situations of great danger, except for a shot by Matheus Uribe. Already Rio Ave only managed to scare with shots from far away from Nuno Santos.
In the second half, Carlos Carvalhal decided to move and launched Mehdi Taremi and in the 64th minute, Rio Ave finally managed by Taremi, isolated by Bruno Moreira, to score a goal… which was however annulled. After consulting the VAR, an irregular position of the striker was detected.
