The films “A ver o mar” by Ana Oliveira and André Puertas, and “That summer without a home” by Santiago Reale, won the Sintra Short Film Festival on Saturday, the organization said.
[dropcap type=”background”]T[/dropcap]he closing ceremony of the ninth festival took place on Saturday night at the Olga Cadaval Center in Sintra, with the public awarding the national short film award for the documentary “A ver o mar” by Ana Oliveira and André Puertas.
“In the National Competition, the public attributed the prize to ‘A Ver o Mar’ by Ana Oliveira and André Puertas,” according to the organization’s statement.
The experimental documentary “Janela“, a Portuguese-Spanish production of the collective of authors Left Hand Rotation, was also distinguished in the category of films in the first exhibition – National Competition of Premieres.
“Of the 11 short films that were part of the new section of the Festival, the National Competition of Premiere, the film ‘Janela’, Collective Left Hand Rotation, received the Best Short Prize,” reads the statement today. “Billy The Kid“, by César Santos, was awarded by the jury with an honourable mention.
In the international competition was awarded “That summer without a home” of the Argentine director Santiago Reale.
Students from schools in Sintra and Lisbon chose “Moody Booty” by Kathrin Kuhnert as the best film in the “Mini-Cortex” program.
The award-winning films of this edition of Cortex can be seen today at 6:00 pm at the Olga Cadaval Cultural Center and on the 10th at the Ideal Cinema in Lisbon.
This year, the Cortex was marked by a retrospective of the cinema of the director and Portuguese visual artist Gabriel Abrantes, with 15 films, that cover a decade of work with the image in cinema.
