Saxophonist Anthony Braxton at Teatro do Bairro Alto in November

A concert by composer and saxophonist Anthony Braxton, with Susana Santos Silva and Adam Matlock, on November 9, is one of the highlights of Teatro do Bairro Alto’s programming, under the artistic direction of Francisco Frazão.

“Lento e Largo”, a dance performance with artistic direction by the creators Jonas & Lander inspired by the work of the painter Jheronymus Bosch, from September 8th to 10th, walks with Teatro do Silêncio with sharing of artistic practices (11th and 25th of September September and October 2nd and 16th) and the presentation of the theater show “Limbo”, by Victor de Oliveira, (from September 18th to 22nd) are some of the highlights of the program.

Xavier de Sousa’s performance, entitled “Post-“, from September 23rd to 26th), in which the creator builds a narrative of sharing and collective dialogue, is another of the initiatives highlighted in the program.

“Sara”, a performance-conference by Sara Goulart, on October 30th, “Exhibition of Lovers”, by Raquel André, from November 5th to 12th, and “Invasor Resumo #4”, a sound installation with three accompanied performative moments through an online archive, presented by the collective OSSO which, for five weeks, will “occupy” the Teatro do Bairro Alto, are also included in the program.

In the area of ​​theatre, among other shows, there are two works by Mónica Cale, to be presented in December: in “O Lugar do Meio Dia” the artist was once again inspired by the dramaturgy of Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão and is the result of a pilgrimage carried out by three artists for 26 days, from the Cathedral of Lisbon to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
