Ten Brinke wins the ‘Baja de Portalegre 500’
Toyota’s pilot finished the 34th edition of the Automobile Club de Portugal event with a time of 2: 18.11 minutes and a 1.17.1 minute advantage over the runner-up, Belgian Guillaume de Mévius (Can Am Maverick X3), and 1.20, 3 minutes on the third place, Russian Vladimir Vasilyev (Mini Cooper Countryman).
Alejandro Martins (Mini Jow Rallye) was the best national representative, finishing in the sixth position, 8.51.9 minutes from the winner. The bad weather conditions felt this weekend led the organization to shorten today’s draw, divided into two selective sectors, which totaled 342 kilometers.
The SS3 was canceled and the SS4 shortened to just 79 kilometers. Still, Ten Brinke managed to overtake De Mévius, who finished Friday at the head of the Alentejo race, the last in the off-road National.
Baja de Portalegre also consecrated Miguel Barbosa (Toyota Hilux) as national champion, a title he conquered for the eighth time, after the cancellation of Baja de Idanha a Nova was confirmed.
On the bikes, the victory went to the Portuguese-German Sebastian Buhler (Hero), the third in a row, ending with a time of 1: 55.16.3 hours, leaving his teammate, Joaquim Rodrigues Jr. in the second position, at 1.14 ,4 minutes.
