The Curtas de Vila do Conde film festival, which will take place between October 3 and 11 this year, will have 48 films in national debut, in the official selection for the international and experimental competition.
This 28th edition of the event should have taken place in July, but was postponed to October, due to the covid-19 pandemic.
According to the direction, the festival will take place in the Municipal Theater of Vila do Conde, in the municipal auditorium and in that art gallery, but it will also have online initiatives so that the meeting between the public and the filmmakers can happen in a safe and close way.
In the poster prepared for this edition of Curtas, which, according to those responsible, integrates works that connect different communities, ways of being and thinking, the work Mi piel, luminosa, by Nicolás Pereda and Gabino Rodríguez, and the projection of works by Sergei Loznitsa (Ukraine) and Jafar Panah (Iran),
As part of the films premiering at this event, the highlight is “Witness” by multi-award-winning director Ali Asgari, “Victor in Paradise” by Brendan McHugh, “Look Then Below” by Ben Rivers, “Stump the Guesser“, new I take in the surreal and dreamlike cinematography of Canadian Guy Maddie and, also, “Casa Sol“, by Lúcia Prancha, who explores the militant universe of Brazilian writer Hilda Hilst.
This edition of Curtas de Vila do Conde, which will also have online programming, because of the covid-19 pandemic, will have a special focus on the work of the Spanish artist Isaki Lacuesta.
