[dropcap type=”background”]W[/dropcap]eb Summit, the “world’s largest technology event” according to the Financial Times,
has announced that this year’s event is officially a sellout, with 70,469 attendees, 2,150 startups
and 239 partners confirmed to participate from November 4- 7, in Lisbon, Portugal.
The number of total attendees reached maximum capacity at 70,469 attendees. This is surpassing
the company’s projections for this year’s event which was originally set to host 70,000 at Lisbon’s
Altice Arena and FIL.
The number of startups and partners also exceeded expectations this year. 2,150 startups will be
showcasing on the Web Summit floor across the three days, nearly 20% higher both year over year
and what was originally projected, at 1,800 startups. Startup space for 2019 sold out at its fastest
rate yet, on Oct 14, two weeks earlier than in 2018 and three weeks before the event.
The growth has also been significant for partners and space on the floor. This year the event is
welcoming 239 partners, also nearly 20% more than both last year and what was predicted. Of
these partners, 197 of them will be on the show floor next week.
