1989 (Taylor’s Version) by Taylor Swift leads the national sales chart
Recently, the artist won three MTV European Music Awards – Best Video (with “Anti-Hero”), Best Artist and Best Live Artist.
1989 (Taylor’s Version), the re-recording of Taylor Swift’s famous album, originally released in 2014 and which includes some of the North American artist’s biggest hits, such as “Shake It Off”, “Blank Space”, “Wildest Dreams” and “ Bad Blood”, currently leads the national sales chart.
Thanks to 1989 (Taylor’s Version), Taylor Swift continues to break records around the world. The album has already sold more than 3.5 million units worldwide, 1.6 million of which were in the USA alone, thus breaking its own sales record in the week of release of a new album. 1989 (Taylor’s Version) also reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200.
Thus, Taylor Swift is today the first artist to have six albums that debut at #1 with more than 1 million units sold in the week of release. The singer also achieved the record for the highest number of sales of a re-recorded album in the first week.
1989 is also the first album to debut with 1 million units sold twice, in 2014 and in 2023.
In addition to new versions of the 16 songs that were part of the original lineup, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) also includes 5 new songs “From the Vault”, with the titles “Slut!”, “Say Don’t Go”, “Now That We Don’t Talk”, “Suburban Legends” and “Is It Over Now?”.
1989 (Taylor’s Version) is Taylor Swift’s fourth release in a series of re-recorded albums, a project that began in 2021 with Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version), which were followed this year by Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), which debuted in July in the Portuguese Top 20 sales chart.
Recently, the artist was the big winner at the MTV European Music Awards, having won awards for Best Video (with “Anti-Hero”), Best Artist and Best Live Artist.
