On the last night, Saturday, August 12th, the 25th edition is celebrated in a festive tone on the MEO Stage with HARDWELL, STEVE AOKI, and BLASTERJAXX.

Also confirmed for the MEO Stage: RAE SREMMURD, KRIOL KINGS, LON3R JOHNY, and SORAIA RAMOS

With summer getting closer, the 25th edition of the biggest Summer Festival is also approaching. From the 9th to the 12th of August, and the opening of the campsite on the 5th, MEO Sudoeste guarantees another unforgettable week, with the tribe once again reunited in Zambujeira do Mar.

On the 25th anniversary, the tone could only be one of party and celebration, particularly on the last night of the Festival, on August 12th, where the public is invited to celebrate to the sound of some of the best DJs in the world, authentic masters of dance music. : Hardwell is back, as is the ever so well received Steve Aoki, who will be joined by Blasterjaxx, to transform Herdade da Casa Branca into the biggest dance floor in the country, in a party night that will still reserve other surprises. Also confirmed for the 25th edition are Rae Sremmurd, Kriol Kings, Lon3r Johny, and Soraia Ramos.

HARDWELL

Hardwell has been one of the most successful DJs in the world for many years. His love for music started early: at just 6 years old he already knew how to play the piano and other musical instruments. At his parent’s house, he listened to artists like James Brown and Michael Jackson, a decisive stimulus for little Robert. When he was 10 he watched a documentary about Dutch dance music, which featured the likes of Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, or Ferry Corsten. Despite his age, he realized that his future was there and it didn’t take long before he started playing music at friends’ parties, introducing himself, even then, as Hardwell. Between the ages of 14 and 18, he began to tour Holland, performing alongside the best DJs in the country, when he was still barely old enough to enter his own clubs. And international success soon followed with such explosive singles as “Show Me Love vs. Be”, “Spaceman” or “Cobra”. The doors of worldwide success were wide open and, since then, Hardwell has confirmed all expectations. He has been considered the best DJ in the world by DJ Mag magazine more than once and has set dance floors on fire on five continents. Recent singles like “Broken Mirror”, “Into the Unknown” or “F*cking Society” are proof of the musician’s good form. Admired by fans, Hardwell is an example of devotion and hard work in pursuit of a dream. And that message fits perfectly with MEO Sudoeste and its history of over 25 years. Hardwell performs on the 12th of August, the last night of the 25th edition of the Festival, in a party and celebration atmosphere, where the only order is to dance and celebrate to the sound of his music.

STEVE AOKI

Steven Hiroyuki Aoki, simply Steve Aoki to the music world, was born in Miami and grew up in California. Of Japanese descent (his father was an ex-wrestler), he was always interested in studying, despite his passion for music, and ended up taking two degrees, one in Feminist Studies and the other in Sociology. His college days were the fertile ground for his first compositions. At just 20 years old, Aoki already had his own record label, Dim Mark, inspired by his idol Bruce Lee. The label even released music from names like Bloc Party, The Kills, and Klaxons, among many others. In 2007 the first compilation of his work was released: “Pillowface & His Airplane Chronicles”. This record revealed a DJ prepared to conquer the world, which would indeed happen. In 2009 he managed to achieve huge success thanks to the remix of “Forever”, a song by Drake. He toured countries like the USA, Canada, China, and Japan, with a posture on stage that is hard to forget (even with acrobatics), which would also become one of his trademarks. As a DJ, he has already recreated themes by Michael Jackson, The Killers, and Lenny Kravitz, among many other great names. The first album arrived in early 2012, conquered the public and the critics, and was nominated for a Grammy. Steve Aoki didn’t stop and, in 2014, he edited “Neon Future, Vol. 1”, his second album. And that meant more high-end guests like Fall Out Boy, will.i.am, Waka Flocka Flame. With an enviable creativity and work ethic, the following years were made of more releases, sold-out concerts, and many collaborations. 2018 was no exception, with the release of “Neon Future III”. The next chapter, “Neon Future, Vol. 4”, arrived in April 2020, featuring Icona Pop, Desiigner, Monsta X, Sting, Backstreet Boys, Maluma, Travis Barker, will.i.am, Matthew Koma, Alan Walker, and Zooey Deschanel. More recent songs like “Mambo” (with Willy William) or “Used to Be” (with Kiiara and Wiz Khalifa) show Steve Aoki in great shape, which raises even more expectations for his next performance on the 12th of August, on the MEO Stage.

BLASTERJAXX

Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf form the duo Blasterjaxx, one of the most exciting names in the dance music industry. With two very different energies, each of the members offers something unique to the project, always seeking to complement each other. There is, however, a fundamental reason for the success of this meeting: their passion and love for music. In the early 2010s, Thom decided to form a DJ duo. After a failed attempt, he found his ideal partner in Idir, developing a unique sound, described by many as a perfect fusion between genres such as electro-house, progressive and big room. In 2013 the single “Faith” conquered radio stations around the world and even reached double platinum in some countries. That same year, Blasterjaxx entered the DJ MAG top 100 for the first time and has never left since. Their energetic and contagious performances became unavoidable and soon they were present at festivals such as Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, and Electric Daisy Carnival, among many other stages around the world. Collaborations with artists such as Armin van Buuren, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwell, Timmy Trumpet, Hollywood Undead, and W&W, among many others, showcased Blasterjaxx’s versatility. With an enviable curriculum of edits, remixes, and performances, Blasterjaxx turns every stage they pass into an authentic dance floor. And that’s what will happen in the 25th edition of MEO Sudoeste. The duo performs on the last night of the Festival, on the 12th of August, on the MEO Stage in a festive atmosphere that matches the spirit of their own musical identity.

RAE SREMMURD

The duo Rae Sremmurd is one of the names of the moment when it comes to making hip-hop hits capable of leading the charts and reaching listeners around the world. Brothers Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi debuted in 2013 with the track “We”. The success increased the buzz around the duo and those better expectations were confirmed with “StremmLife”, their multiplatinum debut album, released in 2015, which included themes like “No Flex Zone” or “No Type”. The band’s second record arrived in 2016. “StremmLife 2016” also reached platinum, boosted by the single “Black Beatles” (a collaboration with Gucci Mane), which is still one of the group’s most identifying hits, with more than 900 million views on YouTube alone. But this duo does not rest in the shadow of its own success and raised the bar again with “SR2018MM”. “Perplexing Pegasus”, “T’d Up”, and “Powerglide” were some of the themes that conquered Rae Sremmurd’s legion of fans. During a hiatus from activities as a duo, Swae was featured on “Sunflower”, recorded with Post Malone, and included on the soundtrack to the film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” In 2023 they return to records with “Sremm4Life”. The album, which features guest appearances by the likes of Young Thug and Future, addresses topics ranging from the most festive moments of artistic life to mental health, and includes themes like “Torpedo” and “Tanisha (Pump That)”. With new songs in their luggage, Rae Sremmurd will be in Portugal on August 11th, on the MEO Stage at MEO Sudoeste.

KRIOL KINGS

Kriol Kings results from the meeting of two of the most famous names in music in the Portuguese-speaking world: Djodje and Nelson Freitas. Today it is difficult to talk about this music, which is part of Lusophony for the whole world, not to mention the contribution made by Nelson Freitas, with his marriage between Cape Verdean zouk and R&B. Tracks such as “Miúda Linda”, “Bo Tem Mel” or “Break of Dawn”, with Richie Campbell, are sweeping hits. The Cape Verdean Djodje is another of the names that left Cape Verde for the world, conquering a vast legion of fans thanks to songs like “Não Vai”, “Dói Demais”, “Vamos Fugir”, with Cuca Roseta, or ” A Fila Anda”, with Jimmy P. The meeting of these two names could only result in an unmissable concert, filled with hits and truly contagious African rhythms. This luxury duo will perform on the 10th, on the MEO Stage.

LON3R JOHNY

Lon3r Johny started to stand out on Soundcloud and since then he has never stopped showing his talent. Among many themes already released, he debuted on Think Music with “Crystal Castle” and “Trapstar”. Two years ago he released the theme “Death Note”, in collaboration with Finix MG. This theme was a real success and reached more than 5 million views on Youtube. A few months later he would release another hit. “DRIP” has also been heard more than 5 million times on Youtube alone and confirms the best attributes of the rapper. With a unique and very characteristic style, which mixes trap, rock, and pop, Lon3r Johny reveals himself as one of the main names to follow from this new generation of Portuguese musicians. Already in this year 2023, he edited “ANTI $$ OCIAL” together with Plutonio. His live performances are vibrant, where the waves of artists and audiences merge into one. And this energy can be witnessed by the audience of MEO Sudoeste. Lon3r performs on the 9th, on the MEO Stage.

SORAIA RAMOS

Soraia Ramos is a Cape Verdean singer, born in Portugal, where she lived until she was 13. She then left with her family for France and later for Switzerland, where she stayed for a few years. With the support of her family, Soraia won first place in the “Vozes da Diaspora” contest in 2010. Since then, she has never stopped. She has collaborated with artists such as NGA, Monsta, Deezy, Ravidson, and JeyV, among others. In 2014, the artist assumes her style and identity, revealing herself to the public with the EP “A little bit of me”. In 2017 she signed for the Klasszik label and from there came her biggest hits. Songs like “Now I think for myself”, “I want to see you move” and “Bai” have millions of views on Youtube. Another of these hits is called “I love you too”, with the participation of Gson, one of the members of the group Wet Bed Gang. In 2020 she edited “O Nosso Amor”, a duet with Calema, whose video clip is a beautiful example of how to successfully balance music, lyrics, and choreography, reaching more than 40 million views on Youtube. Nominated for the 2020 Afrimma (African Muzik Magazine Awards), Soraia won the Best Female Central Africa award. In the same year, she was nominated for four categories at the 2020 MTV Awards, and, in 2021, she is again nominated for Afrimma in the categories of Best African Female, Best Lusophone, and Best Collaboration. In 2022 she released “BKBN”, yet another resounding success, with over 18 million views on YouTube. Soraia Ramos is really one of the names of the moment and couldn’t miss the 25th MEO Sudoeste – she performs on the 12th, on the MEO Stage.
