Edgar Condenso and Nuno Silva (Ford Ranger) take 4th place in Baja de Lagos and gain points over their most direct opponents in the Portuguese Off-Road Championship (T1 category).
The outcome of the Baja de Lagos for Team Consilcar was very positive, with the duo Edgar Condenso/Nuno Silva (Ford Ranger) finishing the third race on the Portuguese Off-Road Championship calendar in fourth position in the T1 category. A result that allowed the drivers to reduce the points gap to the top three in the championship: they are now just eight points behind the leader.
“We are very happy”, began by highlighting Edgar Condenso. “Fourth place is a very positive result, as we were even ahead of our main opponents in the championship, thus reinforcing our candidacy for the Category T1 title. From the first kilometers we tried to set a strong pace, but without taking unnecessary risks, as it was a very tough race for mechanics. In today’s stage (Sunday) we suffered with the car’s suspension when it practically stopped working, but fortunately, we managed to manage the problem until the end, winning important points for the championship. Now, it’s time to do a thorough review of the car, as the next test is in three weeks.”
“We moved quickly, managed the mechanics, avoided punctures and reduced the point difference to our most direct opponents. In other words, we fulfilled the strategy we outlined for Baja de Lagos, continuing in the fight for the T1 Category title”, said Nuno Silva, the co-founder of Team Consilcar and co-driver for Edgar Condenso.
David Carreira with unhappy return
Less happy was David Carreira’s return to Team Consilcar. In the first stage, the Lisbon driver and navigator António Serrão were the victim of a puncture, 15 kilometres from the end of the selective sector, which relegated them to 15th place in the competitive and competitive T3 Category. Determined to recover today (Sunday), they were unable to avoid a collision with the Can-Am that prevented them from continuing in the race. “It was excessive. I entered a curve badly, we hit a tree and the steering gave way. That’s what racing is like. It’s a shame, as we started the day ready to recover as many positions as possible”, confessed David Carreira.
Team Consilcar returns to competition on the 7th, 8th and 9th of June, with the Baja TT Norte de Portugal, the fourth race on the 2024 Portuguese Off-Road Championship calendar.
