NOPO Orchestra with Karl Seglem and Rão Kyao took the first Misty Fest Festival concert in Lisbon to the Museu do Oriente, after the premiere in Espinho, where saxophone, flutes and goat horns will reveal a “universal contemporary folk“, inspired by the roots cultural aspects of their countries.
A perfect union between musicians from Norway and Portugal, it is from the first two letters of the names of the two countries that the name NOPO appears, which brought themes by Rão Kyao, Karl Seglem and guitarist Francisco Sales to the auditorium of the Museu do Oriente. Erlend Viken, Ruca Rebordão, Hallvard Gaardloes and Kaare Opheim were also on stage.
Rão Kyao is a major reference in Portuguese music, one of its most important ambassadors with an ability to dialogue with the world, from Asia to South America and from Africa to all of Europe.
Karl Seglem is one of the most important musicians, composers and poets in Norway, both Karl and Rão are excellent saxophonists, but they went through other instruments, bamboo flutes, in Rão Kyao’s case, goat horns, in Karl’s Seglem case .
Francisco Sales, Portuguese guitarist who recorded two works, “Valediction” and “Miles Away“, much applauded around the world, accompanied some of the greatest exponents of the international jazz scene.
A concert with the best of contemporary folk.
