Mafalda Veiga is one of the most important and recognized Portuguese singers and composers, the author of some of the most emblematic songs of contemporary Portuguese music.
On the 6th of May, he will perform live at the Teatro Tivoli BBVA, in Lisbon, where he will debut a new show – “Geografia Particular” – which is also the name of the EP, with original songs, to be released later this year.
As a composer, Mafalda Veiga does not always remember what motivated her to write a certain song, nor the day and time when she wrote it. However, she considers that there is always one recurring memory in relation to all of her songs: the place where she was when she wrote them.
Music also has this power for those who listen to it, the power to transport us to a place, a latitude, a destination with temperature, smell, sensations, people, “this” place where it was (and continues to be) the soundtrack of something unique, special and unforgettable. It is as if she had the code for a “Geografia Particular”, a geography that belongs to each person, an inner map of memories and emotions where each song that is special to us manages to guide us with the accuracy of a GPS.
This is the journey that Mafalda Veiga proposes to the public in the show “Geografia Particular”; a journey that starts from the process of picking up his guitars and his songs, written in drafts that he didn’t always keep, that goes through the search for the “tone” of each of the places where he was sad or happy to write them and that ends in the sharing these songs with the people who heard them and who also know, each one of them, which are the places where they were happy or sad while doing so.
In May, while covering a large part of her most recent discography, including the debut of some of the songs on the new EP, but also the one that most marked those who have followed her over the years, Mafalda Veiga will revive and relive memories and emotions brought by each of your songs.
In the case of her “Geografia Particular”, the singer will perform solo most of the time. However, it will have the presence of musicians invited to announce it in due course and who, in some way, are part of her life and her “road”.
Tickets for this show are already available at special prices at the usual places, namely at Teatro Tivoli BBVA and Ticketline, until April 6th, the date from which they will be available at normal prices.
