Building The Future 2024 kicked off yesterday in a virtual scenario based on the “Super Powers” concept

This is the first time that the Live Motion Capture technique has been used at a corporate event in Portugal

Building The Future, the main Portuguese digital transformation event, which has the main sponsorship of Microsoft and organization of imatch, kicked off yesterday, at Convento do Beato, in a completely virtual scenario based on the “Super Powers” concept that used Live Motion technology Capture to combine the human condition with artificial intelligence, involving everyone present in a highly immersive and impactful experience, from a visual and sensory point of view.

This was the first time that the Live Motion Capture technique was used at a corporate event in Portugal. The technology was implemented by No Ideas No Arts and placed the event host controlling an avatar, in real-time, allowing them to be in two realities simultaneously – the real world and the virtual world. The immersive experience thus marked the beginning of the 6th edition of Building The Future, which runs until Thursday, February 22nd.

“Motion Capture allows for recording and reproducing human movements with exact precision. It involves using sensors, cameras and specialized software to capture and digitize the movements of an actor, or model, in real time. The captured data can later be applied to digital characters (avatars, for example), creating incredibly realistic animations. This is what we are doing at Building The Future with the event host and the result is a unique experience”, says André Ferreira, from No Ideas No Arts.

Manuel Dias, National Technology Director at Microsoft Portugal, started the session and announced that Microsoft, in partnership with Accenture, Avanade and Unicorn Factory Lisbon, will launch an AI Innovation Factory, to accelerate the adoption of Intelligence Artificial by public and private companies in Portugal. Manuel Dias also presented the study’s results developed in partnership with IDC, “From expectations to success: Achieving business success with AI in Europe – Portugal”.

“Organizations at the national level are in line with European sentiment about implementing AI, with 62% using this technology and 25% considering its use in the next 24 months”, stated Manuel Dias, referring to the results of the study that included the participation of more than 2,000 business leaders and decision-makers from around the world, 500 of which are from the EMEA region, who are responsible for bringing AI transformation to life in their organizations, having conducted specific interviews with Portuguese decision-makers.
This was followed by Pascal Bornet, a specialist in Artificial Intelligence and Automation, author and influencer, who argued that “technology is increasing business and making the world more human”, but highlighted that “machines are learning while humans are screen addicts. We need to build AI literacy and understand how technology can help us, what the risks and ethical issues are.”

In this 6th edition, 38 sessions are expected on the Inspiration Stage, more than 40 speakers and more than 10 hours of content, from aspirational sessions, use case presentations and debates, among others. Under the motto “Superpowers: The Digital Human (R)evolution”, the event will be divided into four pillars: Human Super Powers, Societal Impact, Intelligent Organizations and Organizational Transformation

In a hybrid format, the event is offering an exclusive in-person experience for guests, in addition to continuing to invest in the democratization of access, free online, to impact and inspire more people.
