Jorge Jesus named best coach in Brazil by the players
Less than 24 hours after beating Al-Hilal 3-1 and stamping his passport to the Club World Cup final – where he will face Liverpool or Monterrey – Jorge Jesus learned that he will be entitled to one more individual prize.
This time, the Portuguese was elected the best coach of Brazilian football in the “Survey” of the portal UOL Esporte, from a “survey conducted with 100 players who played in Serie A”.
The Flamengo coach collected 46% of preferences, immediately ahead of Santos’s Jorge Sampaoli, with 26%. The podium ended with Corinthians’ Tiago Nunes with 8%.
On the other hand, the prize for the worst coach in Brazilian football went to … Abel Braga, Jorge Jesus’ predecessor in charge of Flamengo.
The now Vasco da Game coach received 24% of the votes for this unwanted distinction, putting him ahead of former Benfica player Argel Fucks from Ceará, who received 18% of the players’ choices.
