The 21st edition of the Seixal Jazz Festival “SeixalJazz” is back at the Municipal Auditorium of Seixal, with only national names on its poster. It opened on October 15th with the Lisbon Jazz Sextet, composed with great names in Portuguese music.
The Lisbon Jazz Sextet composed by Mário Laginha on piano, Francisco Brito on double bass, Mário Barreiros on drums, Edgar Caramelo on saxophone, Ricardo Toscano on saxophone alto and Tomás Pimentel on trumpet and flugelhorn.
The opening of SeixalJazz with the theme “Véspera” by Mário Laginha could not have been better and soon the audience was conquered, but if the first theme was good, the ones that followed are not far behind.
From Edgar Caramelo, “Muda”, “Tradição” and “Uma Outro gaveta” by Mário Laginha, followed by a song that Mário Laginha wrote for his son even before he was born and who is now 34 years old.
From Tomás Pimentel “Sopro” and “Quatro mais Três” this would have been the last but the public did not leave and had to return to the stage for another theme.
In an atypical year at the national and international level, we must congratulate the Municipality of Seixal and its president, Joaquim Santos, for not confine the culture.
Between 15 and 25 October, always at 10 pm, Seixal will host national jazz projects, which started with the Lisbon Jazz Sextet but also TGB on the 17th, Raon, Figueiredo and Hasselberg on the 21st, Ricardo Pinheiro and Miguel Amado – LAB on the 22nd, Isabel Rato Quinteto on the 23rd, Eduardo Cardinho Quartet on the 24th and André Rosinha Trio on the 25th, a month of October full of excellent Jazz in Seixal,
