Giant Barcelos rooster on the way to Toronto’s Little Portugal

The Little Portugal Commercial Association in Dundas, the Toronto City Council, the Consulate General of Portugal and the Street Art project are the promoters of the initiative, are inviting artists from the region to present an artistic decoration for the 100-kilogram rooster.

Galo de Barcelos, one of the main symbols of Portugal, will be installed next to the number 1212 of Dundas Street West, on Lakeview Avenue Parkette.

The proposal aims to add a list of artistic collaboration that will be reduced based on relevant professional credentials and preliminary design concepts.

The final designs will be presented virtually to the community and the trade association on April 8, 2021.

The artists will be contacted until March 5, 2021, receiving 1,500 Canadian dollars (966 euros) to develop the final concept, budget and material needed for the work, using a miniature.

Interested parties must submit their applications by 23:59 on 14 February. For more information you can consult the website: streetartto.submittable.com
